    During the Easter holidays, activities to share with the family are on the menu, including the gathering of sailboats in Greenwich or the feast of St George, which will be an opportunity to support his knowledge of English culture. But the month of April is also the birthday of Queen Elisabeth II celebrated with cannon fire or the prestigious London Marathon.



     

    Coffee festival



    The London Coffee Festival presents over 250 artisanal coffees to taste in the famous Old Truman Brewery, once London's largest brewery.

    They are also interactive workshops to discover the art of drawing works of art in a cup of coffee, tasting coffee-based cocktails, discovering street food stalls, exhibitions and live music.

    Mamma Mia! The Party

    An exhibition dedicated to ABBA at the O2 Arena

    An exhibition dedicated to ABBA presents personal objects, photographs and an immersion in the life stories of each member of the group.

    For the first time, emblematic objects such as a limited edition replica of the “Star Guitar” played at Eurovision 74, the school book of member Bjorn Ulvaeus as well as photos, gold records and clothing are on display.

    The ABBA Super Troupers exhibition immerses visitors through its music, lyrics, creative process and influence on the musical landscape of the 70s and 80s.

    Exhibition "Tutankhamun, the Pharaoh's treasure"

    After its immense success in Paris, the exhibition “Tutankhamun, the Pharaoh's treasure” travels to London for the third meeting of its world tour, which began in 2018, on the occasion of the centenary of the discovery of the tomb.

    Since November 2, 2019, the Saatchi gallery, a contemporary art museum, has been hosting 150 objects found in 1922 in the tomb of the young pharaoh, 60 of which came out of Egypt for the first time.

    David Hockney at the National Portrait Gallery

    David Hockney is known for his paintings of swimming pools as,
    Portrait of an Artist, Peter Getting Out of Nick's Pool or A Bigger Splash, his most famous painting (photo above).

    Since February 27, 2020, the National Portrait Gallery presents works less known to the general public of the British artist.

    Through the exhibition David Hockney: Drawing from Life, the museum exhibits for the first time 150 drawings and more particularly self-portraits and portraits of four people close to Hockney: his mother, Laura Hockney, his muse Celia Birtwell, his friends Gregory Evans and Maurice Payne.

    April 21: Queen Elisabeth II's birthday

    To celebrate the Queen's birthday, on April 21, 41 cannon shots were fired at Hyde Park and 62 at the Tower of London.

    This event called Gun Salute is a free military show open to the public.

    Feast of St George: patron saint of England

    On the occasion of England's National Day, London City Hall is organizing a multitude of free events: Morris dance demonstrations, parades, street shows, concerts, cooking stalls, games ... and many activities for children!

    In short, the St Georges is a good pretext to party, but also to discover English history and culture!
